The final and prize-giving ceremony of the 3rd English Radio Drama Competition for Schools in Hong Kong & Macao was successfully held at the Amphitheatre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts on March 26, 2011.

15 teams performed their radio drama LIVE in front of our judges and audience. Our finalists' creativity led us to Mars, the inside of a refrigerator, etc.  We enjoyed their stories, songs and performances; students' hard work and dedication certainly paid off! Our judges were truly impressed and gave valuable comments to the teams.

We hope that all of you have enjoyed the 3rd English Radio Drama Competition for Schools in Hong Kong & Macao, and look forward to your active participation again next year. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors for their generosity.

You can vote for your favourite radio drama for each level. Listen to the radio drama performances from the short-listed teams, and vote! Each person can cast one vote per day for each level. You can vote from now till March 1, 2011. The team from each level with the most number of votes will win the "Most Popular Performance" award.

The Most Popular Radio Drama Performance Award will be announced on March 26, 2011 at our final competition and prize giving ceremony. Winners will be invited to the ceremony to receive their trophies.

Phase 1 results are in!!!

Our judges have selected the following teams to enter Phase 2 of our competition! We are extremely pleased with the quality of your radio drama scripts submitted in Phase 1. Many teams have tied scores, and therefore we are inviting more than 15 teams to enter Phase 2 of our competition.

These short-listed teams are also invited to participate in our workshop on script writing and voice training on one of the following days: Jan 21 or 29 at Theatre Noir's studio. Invitation letters and details have been sent to the teams to inform you which training sessions you will be attending. We will also call you in the next few days.


Important notes regarding the workshops:

  • The number of participating teams has well exceeded our expectations, and each team can only send a MAXIMUM of 2 students to our workshop.
  • Each team will attend ONE workshop only.
  • The workshops are provided for the STUDENTS ONLY.

Let's create your own radio drama and have a chance to perform LIVE at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in March 2011!

This competition is co-organized by Smart Education Charitable Foundation, Rotary Club of Bayview Sunshine of Hong Kong and Theatre Noir. We are also very glad to have the support from BBC Learning English.

ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER:

Students attending a full-time school in Hong Kong and Macau are eligible to enter the competition. Students can form a team of no more than 5 members and submit a 5-minute play-script of radio programme.
